Are you a passionate and experienced professional dedicated to supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)? Cedars Upper School is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Deputy SENCO to help lead our dynamic SEND team.

In this pivotal role, you'll work closely with the SENCO to ensure high-quality teaching, effective use of resources, and outstanding learning outcomes for all pupils with SEND, particularly those with cognition, learning, sensory, and physical needs.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Assisting in the management and leadership of the SEND provision.
  • Supervising, training, and coaching our talented HLTAs and Teaching Assistants.
  • Supporting teaching staff in adopting effective approaches for pupils with SEND.
  • Planning and delivering targeted intervention groups.
  • Contributing to staff training and development on SEND best practices.
  • Collating and preparing vital information for assessments, EHCPs, and external referrals.
  • Developing curriculum resources to ensure inclusive learning.
  • Monitoring pupil progress and maintaining accurate records.

We're Looking For Someone Who Has:

  • In-depth experience in planning, monitoring, and assessing pupil progress in an educational setting, particularly with a range of special needs.
  • Demonstrable experience working in a school environment.
  • The ability to lead and manage a team, and to train, develop, and motivate others.
  • Strong communication and record-keeping skills.
  • HLTA status or an NVQ in childcare Level 4, STAC, STA, or a relevant qualification (or be part-qualified).
  • A commitment to continuous professional development.

This role requires a proactive individual with excellent interpersonal skills, a deep understanding of SEND best practices, and a commitment to safeguarding children.
