About this Role

Wadebridge primary Academy are looking for an After School Club Assistant to join our dedicated wrap around care team .This role is vital in ensuring our pupils enjoy a safe, happy, and engaging experience. The successful candidate will support pupils across the school, helping to create a calm and inclusive environment.


Working Weeks: 39 weeks per year (term time only)

Paid Weeks: 43.699 per year (includes holiday entitlement

Rate of Pay: £12.60 per hour

Hours: 9 per week

Equivalent Hourly Rate: £13.45

Working days: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday

Shift times: 15.00-18.00


 Although no two days will be the same, your responsibilities will include: 

  • Providing a balanced, stimulating, secure and safe play programme and creative activities suited to the age ranges, learning needs and abilities of the children using the service and engaging those children in the planned activities. 

  • Setting up play equipment, ensuring that it is in good and usable condition. 

  • Preparing rooms and resources. Attending to daily duties and ensuring that play equipment and materials are cleared away and safely stored at the end of each session. 

  • Preparing food as required and assisting children with the selection and distribution of refreshments. Ensure food, hygiene and allergy procedures are followed. 

  • Escorting children to and from the school/agreed point/classrooms and ensuring safe delivery to the parents/named carers. 

  • Administer First Aid when required and be aware of the medical conditions of children in attendance. Record all instances, treatment and medication use on the appropriate system. 

The position advertised is for the following days/times:  

  • Monday 15:00-18:00 (3hrs)  

  • Tuesday 15:00-18:00 (3hrs)  

  • Thursday 15:00-18:00 (3hrs)


We are looking for someone who:

  • Enjoys working with children
  • Has high expectations for behaviour and uses positive strategies to support pupils
  • Will uphold and promote the school’s values during lunchtime

Experience in first aid and working with children is desirable but not essential
