We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and committed Teacher of English and Media to join our dedicated team at Shelley College on a fixed-term basis. In this role, you will contribute to delivering a broad, balanced and engaging English curriculum that meets the needs of students of all abilities. You will work closely with colleagues within the English department, the Senior Leadership Team and the wider staff body to support the continued improvement of teaching, learning and student outcomes across the school.
You will be responsible for planning and delivering high-quality lessons, monitoring and supporting student progress, and fostering a positive and purposeful learning environment. The role also includes responsibilities as a form tutor, supporting students’ personal development, wellbeing and academic progress. As with all teaching roles at Shelley College, you will play a key role in safeguarding students and maintaining a safe, nurturing environment.

Overall Purpose of the role:
As a Teacher of English and Media you will be required to meet the general requirements of this post, as specified in the School Teachers’ Pay and Conditions Document. In addition, you will be required to fulfil any reasonable expectations from the Principal.
The post will require you to work in partnership with the Principal, Senior Leadership Team, governors and staff to ensure the continuous improvement of the Academy.
This role will also require the post holder to work in other school settings under the direction of the Principal.
Safeguarding Requirement:
This post requires the post holder to work in settings with children and young adults. Any employment offer is therefore subject to the results of an Enhanced Disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). People who may have contact with younger children (i.e. primary school age) are also required to complete a declaration about family or other members of their household.
