Why St Ivo Academy?
St Ivo Academy is a large 11-18 comprehensive academy
located in the town of St Ives, Cambridgeshire. With around 1700 students,
including 300 in our Sixth Form, we are proud of our 70-year history and our
place within the local community. We are truly comprehensive and inclusive,
supporting students from all backgrounds and abilities, from those preparing
for Oxbridge to the most vulnerable.
We are committed to a knowledge-rich curriculum and a
traditional approach to teaching, behaviour, and culture. Influenced by Lemov’s
‘Teach Like A Champion’, Rosenshine, and cognitive science, we believe in
explicit instruction and teaching powerful knowledge. Our scholarly culture is
warm and strict, disciplined and joyful, ensuring impeccable behaviour so
teachers can focus on teaching and pupils on learning.
We provide an inclusive, aspirational, and academic
education for all our students, helping them learn, thrive, and lead successful
lives. We are ambitious for every child, regardless of background, prior
attainment, or needs, ensuring they have the option to go to university or
pursue an aspirational alternative. We work tirelessly to help children
overcome barriers and flourish.
