Hitchin Girls’ School is a high performing school, graded Outstanding in all areas by Ofsted, where we provide an exceptional experience for all of our students. We have high level provision for teaching and learning and provide the greatest level of care and support for all students and our staff. Situated in the picturesque and historic market town of Hitchin, it is conveniently located in the beautiful countryside just 25 minutes from London by train and with easy access to motorways and airports. 

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced teacher of Psychology and Criminology for a full time temporary post in our Social Sciences Department for the academic year 2026-2027, commencing in September. The appointed candidate will have responsibility for Criminology across Year 12 and 13 and shared teaching of multiple A level Psychology classes. The Social Sciences Department works in Consortium at KS5 with the two other wonderful Hitchin secondaries, working in partnership to deliver outstanding teaching and learning to Sixth Form students across all three schools from our centre.

The Social Sciences Department at Hitchin Girls’ School is a vibrant, warm and welcoming place. We offer Sociology and Health and Social Care at both KS4 and KS5, and Psychology and Criminology at KS5. Our subjects are very popular and the department is still expanding.
