We are seeking an organised, enthusiastic and hands‑on Design Technology & Creative Arts Technician to join our vibrant secondary school. This is a 22 hours per week part-time, Term-time only role.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys practical work, problem‑solving and supporting students in creative, design‑led environments.
You will play a key role in supporting our DT, Art and
Creative Arts departments, ensuring lessons run smoothly, resources are
prepared, equipment is maintained and students can safely explore and develop
their creative and technical skills.
While the role is primarily Technology‑focused, the successful candidate will also contribute to Art and Creative Arts support. This will be discussed in more detail at interview.
Key Responsibilities
Your duties will include, but are not limited to:
Classroom & Practical Support
·
Preparing materials, resources, tools and
equipment for lessons, practical tasks, assessments and examinations.
·
Assisting students and teachers during practical
work in DT, Art and Creative Arts.
·
Designing and constructing jigs, fixtures,
models, props or displays to meet teaching requirements.
·
Safely storing, organising and displaying
students’ work.
·
Helping with digital design technologies such as
CAD/CAM where appropriate.
Resource, Display & Reprographics Support
·
Preparing worksheets, visual resources,
coursework materials and examination resources.
·
Carrying out reprographics tasks including
copying, scanning, printing and binding.
·
Creating and maintaining high‑quality displays
around the school showcasing students’ work.
·
Supporting Creative Arts with filming, show
preparation, mock exams, resources and other technical needs.
Technical, Safety & Administrative Duties
·
Maintaining equipment, carrying out routine
safety checks and ensuring safe working environments.
·
Preparing manuals, safety guidance and technical
documentation.
·
Conducting stock checks and assisting with
ordering and organisation of materials and resources.
·
Supporting general reprographics and
departmental administration when required.
· Keeping up to date with departmental needs and undertaking relevant training.
