This is an exciting opportunity to join our thriving English department in supporting the acceleartion of progress in reading, writing, and literacy for
students who require additional support to reach age-related expectations.
You will
play a key role in narrowing attainment gaps, boosting confidence, and
fostering a love of English in small-group and one-to-one settings.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver targeted
English intervention sessions for students across Years 7–11
- Identify literacy gaps using
assessment data and adapt teaching accordingly
- Support students in
preparation for GCSE English Language and Literature
- Monitor, track, and report
on student progress
- Work collaboratively with
the English department and SEND team
- Develop tailored resources
to support reading fluency, comprehension, writing skills, and exam
technique
- Build positive, supportive
relationships that promote engagement and resilience
The Ideal Candidate Will:
- Hold Qualified Teacher
Status (QTS) or equivalent
- Have experience teaching
English at secondary level
- Demonstrate strong subject
knowledge in English Language and Literature
- Have experience supporting
lower-attaining students or those with additional needs (desirable)
- Be patient, adaptable, and
committed to raising achievement
- Have strong organisational
and communication skills
