About this Role

At Thamesmead School, we believe that every student deserves to experience success in Science. We are looking for an exceptional Science Intervention Teacher who is passionate about breaking down barriers to learning and reigniting confidence in students aged 11–16.

This is not just a teaching role — it is an opportunity to transform outcomes, close gaps, and inspire belief in students who need it most.

If you are driven by impact, motivated by progress and committed to excellence, we want to hear from you.

Why this role matters

Science opens doors — to careers, curiosity, and critical thinking. As our Science Intervention Teacher, you will:

  • Deliver targeted, high-impact small group and 1:1 sessions

  • Identify misconceptions and rapidly accelerate progress

  • Build students’ confidence in Biology, Chemistry and Physics

  • Strengthen exam technique and scientific literacy

  • Turn “I can’t do this” into “I’ve got this”

Your work will directly influence student achievement at Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, helping learners secure the knowledge and skills they need to succeed.

What makes this opportunity special?

  • Focused Impact – Work with small groups where you can truly personalise learning
  • Collaborative Culture – Join a supportive, forward-thinking Science department
  • Professional Growth – Access high-quality CPD and career development
  • Well-Resourced Environment – Modern labs and structured intervention programmes
  • Student-Centred Ethos – A school that genuinely prioritises progress and wellbeing

Who we're looking for

You will:

  • Hold QTS (or equivalent)

  • Have strong subject knowledge across KS3 and KS4 Science

  • Understand how to diagnose learning gaps and respond strategically

  • Be skilled at motivating and building rapport with young people

  • Have high expectations and a relentless commitment to raising standards

Experience working with students who require additional academic support is highly desirable — but above all, we are looking for someone who believes in possibility.

Thamesmead School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. All appointments are subject to enhanced DBS clearance and satisfactory references.
