We are seeking a committed, compassionate and highly organised Deputy SENCO to join our dedicated inclusion team. This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious professional who is passionate about supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) to achieve their full potential.

The Westwood Academy operates under the umbrella of the Kenilworth Multi-Academy Trust, a progressive and ambitious trust. We provide a stimulating learning atmosphere coupled with an exemplary shared Continuous Professional Development (CPD) program. The successful candidate would ideally have some experience of working in a secondary school or working in youth services, however, a commitment to learn and a willingness to engage positively with young people is essential.

We are looking for someone who:

·        Has experience working with children or young people with SEND

·        Demonstrates excellent communication and organisational skills

·        Is knowledgeable about SEND legislation and inclusive practice

·        Builds positive relationships with pupils, staff and families

·        Is proactive, resilient and committed to improving outcomes for children

·        Holds relevant qualifications or training in SEND (desirable)

Key areas of the role will include:

·        Support the SENCO in leading and managing SEND provision across the school

·        Assist with identifying, assessing and monitoring pupils with SEND

·        Work collaboratively with teachers, support staff, parents and external agencies

·        Help develop and review Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs)

·        Promote inclusive teaching practices and positive outcomes for all learners

·        Maintain accurate SEND records and contribute to statutory processes

·        Support staff training and the implementation of intervention programmes

·        Support with access arrangements.

Benefits:

Excellent CPD opportunities

A supportive team of colleagues across the school

A dedicated and forward-looking management team, with highly skilled staff upholding high expectations and aspirations for our students

A wide enrichment programme in which you can participate

Employee well-being benefits via our Employee Assist healthcare programme (Benenden) physiotherapy, 24/7 GP and mental health support, retail and gym discounts, free flu vaccination, a laptop, free on- site parking.
