This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced and highly effective pastoral leader to join our collaborative and effective Senior Leadership Team. We work tirelessly to improve the outcomes and life chances for our young people. This Assistant Headteacher role is vital to the provision of a strong culture for learning, high-quality pastoral support, improving standards of achievement for all pupils and the promotion of pupils’ personal development and wellbeing as students join us in Year 7 and during their first two years at Hatch End. This role will be responsible for pastoral care, behaviour, culture, community and transition and will embed our ‘We Care’ values, set high behavioural expectations, engage with our community and lead our Year 7 & 8 pastoral teams. 

As set out in the job description the key responsibilities will be to:

  • Line manage the Y7&8 Pastoral teams and lead on behaviour and academic interventions for these year groups.
  • Leadership of the whole school rewards programme.
  • Lead and manage the school’s use of Arbor, training staff and monitoring implementation.
  • Articulate, lead and develop the whole school Enrichment /Extra Curricular programme and sense of Belonging.
  • In collaboration with the Headteacher and Transition Coordinator, lead and manage the transition programme for students starting in Y7.

The successful applicant will:

  • be an outstanding classroom teacher;
  • have sustained and substantial middle leadership experience or senior leadership experience with an emphasis on pastoral work;
  • have a good understanding of current educational developments and contextual safeguarding
  • be able to analyse, interpret and use data to support pastoral interventions;
  • have energy, stamina and a sense of humour.
