We are
looking to appoint an enthusiastic, dynamic and dedicated Behaviour Mentor to
join our Behaviour team. To contribute to the strategies to improve
learning and behaviour for students, the role involves working with students
who have Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs and/or demonstrate
challenging behaviour. Helping our students overcome barriers to learning
both inside and outside of the classroom, enabling them to achieve their full
potential.
Our
Behaviour Mentors work to support students who find it difficult to regulate
their behaviour in lessons and provide a safe space for them to get their
behaviour back on track and re-engage with learning. The successful applicants will
be good team players and want the very best for all our students. They will be
committed to improving the life chances of our students so that they can live
life to the full both now and in the future.
Ideally the
right candidate will have experience of working within a similar role within a
school context and be flexible, highly organised and able to prioritise work to
meet specific deadlines. We are looking for someone who enjoys being part of a
team and cares about all pupils having the opportunity to achieve their
potential. Excellent communication skills are essential to be able to
build links between students, parents and colleagues.
We pride
ourselves on excellent student behaviour and our strong ethos of inclusion with
ambition for all; We put students at the centre of what we do.
Following
the Ofsted inspection in November 2022 it was reported that 'Pupils
behave very well in lessons. During lesson change-over times and at breaktimes
the school is calm and orderly. Pupils are polite, listen carefully to teachers
and follow instructions. Leaders communicate high behaviour expectations
clearly to pupils. Staff uphold these standards. Clear routines are well
established in lessons. This allows teachers to focus on teaching, almost
always without interruption.'
Our staff are our most valued asset. The Academy has
access to a wealth of support provided by outstanding practitioners, giving
opportunities for staff to flourish and develop. Staff describe the school
as :-
"Working at Robert Smyth Academy is a breath
of fresh air. You can really feel the positivity as you walk round the school,
with staff and students alike smiling and greeting you. There is a family-like
mentality to staff, with cross-curricular support making you always feel
welcome … It's a genuinely lovely place to work.' Teacher
of English
“I enjoy working at Robert Smyth Academy as there
is a real community feel which is made possible by the attitudes of the
students and staff. Students are respectful and want to do well which makes the
job very rewarding. The Academy has a great reputation in the local area and
there is a sense of pride in working here.”
