About this Role

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and dedicated Teacher of Business to join our Social Sciences department. The ability to teach Economics is desirable.

This post can be moulded to suit an ECT or an experienced practitioner. Ideally, the right candidate would be able to teach across all Key Stages, but this is not essential.

The department has a very strong tradition of offering a wide range of business courses. In the sixth form we offer A Level in Business Studies and in Economics, as well as a Level 3 Enterprise BTEC. We also run courses in Financial Studies. Uptake for courses is very high, and the department has a strong track record of attainment.

Leventhorpe is a successful, oversubscribed Business and Enterprise Academy with keen and respectful learners. We are also the lead school for Initial Teacher Training (ITT) within the Bishop’s Stortford Educational Trust (BSET).

The successful candidate will:

  • Have a passion for teaching and learning
  • Have excellent subject knowledge
  • Be an effective team player and value every aspect of the life of the school
  • Have effective interpersonal skills with the ability to inspire students
  • Be an active learner, who constantly strives to improve, with the desire to progress

In return, Leventhorpe can provide:

We welcome applications from ECTs or experienced teachers.

Closing date for applications is 12.00 noon Friday 13th March 2026.

For this post, applications will be processed upon receipt. Suitable candidates may be interviewed prior to the closing date; therefore, early applications are encouraged. We reserve the right to withdraw the position if an early appointment is made.

Leventhorpe is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful applicant will be required to apply for an enhanced disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). Further information for candidates including the school’s policies on Safer Recruitment, Child Protection and Data Privacy notices for candidates can be found on the school's website.
