About this Role

The Governing Body of Leventhorpe is seeking to appoint an exceptional educational leader to inspire, lead and continue to drive the school forward from September 2026.

Leventhorpe is a unique school that blends academic ambition with genuine warmth, nurture and a strong sense of belonging. We have a committed, hard-working and friendly team of staff in our school, supporting our students to achieve great outcomes both in the classroom and beyond. The role will suit a leader with calm authority and moral purpose with the ambition to embed the best educational practices.

Our Headteacher’s main role is to provide highly effective, professional leadership for the school which secures its continuing success and improvement by ensuring high quality education for all students and excellent standards of learning, achievement and pastoral care. The ideal candidate will possess a proven track record of achieving exceptional outcomes, coupled with a deep commitment to providing a truly holistic education. We are seeking a Headteacher who believes in high expectations for all, delivered with care, who inspires confidence through integrity and presence, and who understands how to bring out the best in students and staff through fairness, clarity and genuine relational leadership.

Leventhorpe is a successful, oversubscribed Business and Enterprise Academy with keen and respectful learners. We are also the lead school for Initial Teacher Training (ITT) within the Bishop’s Stortford Educational Trust (BSET).

If you are an inspiring, ambitious leader driven by the pursuit of excellence, commitment and respect, we would be delighted to hear from you.

In return, Leventhorpe can provide:

  • Excellent facilities: To accommodate our expanding roll, Leventhorpe has completed an extensive multi-million-pound capital build programme, including a new Science and Sixth Form block and a state-of-the-art Performing Arts and English block. Previous investment included a sports complex which features a sports hall, fitness suite, dance studio, 3G all-weather pitch and floodlit tennis courts
  • A positive working environment in a heavily oversubscribed school with an excellent academic record and high standards. We place strong emphasis on student learning and achievement
  • First rate personal career development with high local and regional profile through our work with the Bishop’s Stortford Educational Trust (BSET)
  • Exceptionally dedicated colleagues and enthusiastic students
  • Priority admission for children of staff after a qualifying period

We welcome school visits by appointment with our current Headteacher, Malcolm White. To arrange a visit, please email Wendy Shannon, HR Manager was@leventhorpe.net

Closing date for applications is 12.00 noon Monday 19th January 2026.

Interviews will take place on Thursday 5th & Friday 6th February 2026.
