SEND at Landau Forte Academy QEMS and Sixth Form:

All children, regardless of circumstance or need, must be enabled to achieve to the best of their ability.

The SEND Team of teachers and LSA support staff, through information, training and resources, support a Quality First standard of teaching and learning, which enables high quality, inclusive teaching for all students, regardless of need. This includes supporting faculties in their differentiated learning, personalised learning, ongoing formative assessments and strategies to support those students with SEN.

We are looking for an LSA who is:

·         Capable of establishing productive working relationships with students, acting as a role model and setting high expectations.

·         Able to promote the inclusion and acceptance of all students within the classroom.

·         Supportive of students consistently, whilst recognising and responding to their individual needs.

·         Able to demonstrate good organising, planning and the ability to prioritise skills.

·          Friendly yet professional, with a respectful approach which demonstrates support and shows mutual respect.

·         Able to maintain accurate records, including individual education learning plans. 

·         Literate, numerate and articulate, with the interpersonal skills necessary to engage and build strong professional relationships with teenagers.

·         Willing to work with colleagues in developing learning activities and tasks to meet the needs of individual students.

·         Interested or experienced in developing social skills.

·         Responsible and accountable.

·         Committed to the needs of the students, parents and other stakeholders and able to challenge barriers to providing an effective service.

·         Committed to the continuous development of self and others, by keeping up to date and sharing knowledge, encouraging new ideas, seeking new opportunities and challenges, open to ideas and developing new skills.

·         Support with intimate care and personal manual handling of students.

Job description

Supporting Students by:

·         Providing appropriate professional classroom support to enable progress for students.

·         Providing some 1:1 or small group intervention work as needed.

·         Helping support students during non- contact time.

·         Keeping updated impact and intervention records.

·         Contributing to parent/agency meetings if required.

·         Contributing to SEND Team meetings.

·         Taking part in training/CPD.

·         Providing intimate care and personal manual handling where required.

• Relevant qualifications (both formal and through appropriate experience) to meet the challenge of the specific appointment.
• Evidence of successful employment and education.
• You will be educated with formal qualifications including GCSE (or Level 2 equivalent) in Mathematics and English Language or similar qualifications gained since leaving compulsory education.

In addition, responsibilities may be delegated in line with experience, expertise and designated role within the Academy.

Landau Forte Academy QEMS and Tamworth Sixth Form

The local area

Landau Forte Academy QEMS joined the Landau Forte Charitable Trust in September 2011 and delivers education to 11-16 year olds. Landau Forte Academy Sixth Form is a purpose-built establishment providing Level 3 courses, both Advanced Level and BTEC, for the whole of Tamworth and beyond. The academies are located on a shared campus, but both operate from their own facilities, with Landau Forte Academy Sixth Form having new bespoke, accommodation, which opened in September 2011, with a new Sports Hall that opened in 2013.

Tamworth is a historic town surrounded by beautiful countryside, located a short distance from Birmingham. The Academy is located close to the centre of Tamworth, with superb transport links.

Tamworth boasts a range of historical sites and leisure attractions, including: Tamworth Castle; the Tamworth Snow Dome and Drayton Manor Amusement Park. Within a 20 minute drive from the town, you can find yourself in the beautiful, open Staffordshire countryside or Birmingham‘s bustling city centre.
