Landau Forte Academy Tamworth Sixth Form & QEMS is a popular oversubscribed academy in Tamworth with a very large and expanding Sixth Form.  You will be supported in your career through our extensive CPD programme including the opportunity to complete nationally recognised qualifications.  We are committed to prioritising the wellbeing of our staff through a wellbeing committee by committing to the Education Staff Wellbeing Charter. 

We are looking for a versatile and outgoing individual to join the Academy as a Casual Event Technician to support our community hire and lettings activities. The hours are not fixed. Hours of work are dependent on actual bookings in the theatres and typically fall between 07:00 – 22:00 on weekends.

The type of person we are looking for is likely to possess infectious enthusiasm, a reliable and highly organised individual, who can multi-task, with a professional and friendly disposition.  He or she will be resilient, driven, determined, and ambitious.

This post is based between the Landau Forte Academy sites across Tamworth (LFAT QEMS and LFAT Amington) and will report directly to the LFE Manager.

Job description

Duties for this job will include (but are not limited to):

  • To work across all aspects of the technical team, including, sound, lighting and production design.
  • To operate shows in all the above capacities, as well as setting up and resetting after performances. This will require evening and weekend work.

·       Organize general, regular maintenance of performing arts spaces and maintenance of appropriate resources and equipment.

·       Keep up to date with lighting rig maintenance

·       Keep up to date and accurate records of stock, equipment and other resources

  • To welcome artists to the theatre, work closely with them to achieve the best performance standard possible and help build the reputation with artists as an excellent theatre in which to perform.

·       Work as part of a team to deliver the varied tasks across the school, showing flexibility to meet the demands required.

·       Work closely with Site and building maintenance team when undertaking essential maintenance work on the venue.

·       To assist and organise scenery and props as required.

·       Taking a lead role in Health & Safety for the Theatre space.

  • To work within the theatre’s Health and Safety Policy and to be mindful of the safety of theatre staff, members of visiting companies and members of the public
  • To work closely with all LFE staff to help ensure the comfort, safety and enjoyment of audiences.

·       Attend LFE client meetings to manage technical requirements.

  • To undertake such other duties as may be required from time to time that are consistent with the purpose of the job.
  • To attend any training required as deemed necessary by Landau Forte Charitable Trust.

Any other appropriate duties and responsibilities relevant to the post as directed by the Chief Executive Officer, Principal, or LFE Manager.

Landau Forte Academy QEMS & Tamworth Sixth Form

Landau Forte Academy QEMS joined the Landau Forte Charitable Trust in September 2011 and delivers education to 11-16 year olds. Landau Forte Academy Sixth Form is a purpose-built establishment providing Level 3 courses, both Advanced Level and BTEC, for the whole of Tamworth and beyond.
