About this Role

Established in 1632, Sir John Leman High School is steeped in history and has produced many generations of well-educated young people. The school has a strong emphasis on values and a relentless focus on improving learning, which is driving up performance in all aspects of our school.

We require a Cover Supervisor to work on a full or part-time basis to complement the existing team. This position also has the opportunity for ‘casual contract’ days.

Duties include:

· Under the direction of the relevant Head of Department, covering classes for absent teaching staff

· Taking an electronic register at the beginning of each class.

· Advising the students of the work set. This should be provided either by the Head of Department, or by the absent teacher.

· Managing the behaviour of the students to ensure a constructive and positive learning environment.

· Collecting the work at the end of the lesson.


The successful candidate will:

· Have the ability to manage student behaviour and supervise the completion of work set for the cover lesson.

· Be confident in decision making, and have the ability to be assertive when required.

· Have good communication skills.

· Preferably have some previous school based employment or experience.

· Be educated to A level or equivalent
