About this Role
Crofton Academy is seeking to appoint a hands-on, enthusiastic Senior Science Technician to join our Science department on a fixed term basis from September 2026 due to maternity cover.
This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual with strong practical skills to play a vital role in supporting high-quality teaching and learning within Science.
The Role
Reporting to the Science Department Leaders, you will be responsible for the effective coordination and organisation of practical resources and facilities. This will include providing practical support and guidance to both staff and students, preparing materials for lessons, and ensuring that equipment and machinery are maintained to a high standard.

The successful candidate will:
• Ensure that rooms are prepared prior to lessons with appropriate resources.
• Ensure safe working practices through accurate planning and risk assessment.
• Lead and manage the Assistant Science Technician, providing them with clear direction, development and motivation.
• Manage/audit stock, organise and store safely all equipment, chemicals and resources.
• Will have strong communication skills with the ability to work on your own initiative.
• Be able to demonstrate the ability to build and maintain strong working relationships
• Have a methodical and consistent approach to the organisation of the workload.
• Have the ability to assist Teachers in the delivery of the practical requirement of the Science curriculum.
• Undertake and maintain First Aid Qualification to be able to provide first aid assistance and cover as and when required.
