Key responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging and challenging English lessons across KS3–KS5
  • Assess, monitor and report on student progress, adapting teaching to meet individual needs
  • Promote high standards of behaviour and establish a positive learning environment
  • Contribute to curriculum development within the English department
  • Support students to develop strong literacy, critical thinking and analytical skills
  • Participate in wider school life, including enrichment and extracurricular activities
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, parents and the wider school community

What we’re looking for

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Strong subject knowledge and passion for English
  • Experience teaching in a secondary setting (or strong ECT potential)
  • High expectations of student achievement and behaviour
  • Ability to engage and inspire learners of all abilities
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of students
  • Reflective, proactive and committed to continuous professional development
