Longsands Academy is a vibrant and ambitious school committed to providing an exceptional learning experience for every student. With a strong sense of community, dedicated staff, and a culture built on trust, respect, and high aspirations, Longsands is proud to offer a supportive environment where both students and colleagues can thrive. The Academy values inclusive practice, continuous improvement, and a shared determination to help every young person achieve their very best—personally, socially, and academically.
We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL) to join our safeguarding team. This is a key role within the Academy, supporting the Designated Safeguarding Lead in ensuring that the safeguarding of students is effective, robust, and fully embedded across the school. The postholder will work closely with staff, students, families, and external agencies to promote a culture of vigilance, trust, and student welfare.
The successful candidate will be a calm, confident, and compassionate professional with a strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection frameworks. You will be highly organised, resilient, and able to handle sensitive situations with discretion and sound judgement. Strong communication skills, the ability to build trusted relationships, and a genuine commitment to supporting young people are essential. Experience in a safeguarding, pastoral, or student‑support role—ideally within an education setting—would be highly advantageous.
