Longsands Academy is seeking to appoint a passionate and committed Teacher of English to join our dedicated and ambitious team from September. This is a full-time, permanent position, paid on the Main Pay Scale (MPS).

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver high-quality English lessons that engage, challenge and inspire students
  • Teach across the age and ability range, adapting provision to meet the needs of all learners
  • Monitor, assess and track student progress, providing clear feedback and targeted support
  • Maintain high standards of classroom behaviour, engagement and achievement
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues within the English department to develop and share best practice
  • Contribute to the wider life of the academy, including enrichment opportunities where appropriate
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents and colleagues to support positive outcomes

What We Are Looking For

We are seeking a candidate who:

  • Is a qualified teacher (or ECT) with strong subject knowledge in English
  • Has a passion for literature, language and developing students’ communication skills
  • Holds high expectations and a commitment to inclusive, high-quality teaching
  • Is reflective, motivated and committed to ongoing professional development
  • Works well as part of a team and builds positive working relationships
