This is a newly
created post. The Behaviour Mentor will be the consistent, supportive adult
presence in our Reflection Room — the school's designated space for pupils on
Internal Suspension and those removed from lessons. This is a role for someone
who understands that the moment a pupil is removed from a classroom is a moment
of real vulnerability, and who wants to make that moment constructive rather
than merely punitive.
You will
support pupils in completing their work, help them to regulate their emotions,
and encourage them to reflect on the behaviour that led to their removal. You
will not be expected to teach or to make disciplinary decisions — those
responsibilities lie elsewhere. What you will be expected to do is provide a
calm, boundaried, caring presence that holds pupils to high expectations while
treating them with genuine dignity.
This post is initially for one year. If the role is successful — and we hope and expect it will be — it is our intention to make it permanent.
