About this Role

We wish to appoint an enthusiastic, motivated and well-qualified teacher to lead our History and Politics Faculty here at Farlingaye. The postholder will be responsible for leading History across all key stages and overseeing Politics provision at A Level. There is no requirement to teach Politics, but you will be responsible for its leadership and quality assurance within the faculty.

As Head of History and Politics you will act as an advocate for both subjects, promoting their importance in the wider school through events, assemblies and whole-school initiatives. You will enthusiastically and vigorously promote History and Politics as subjects of choice at GCSE and A Level, inspiring students to continue their studies. You will also take the lead on curriculum development, ensuring our curriculum is engaging, knowledge-driven and rigorous, and that it meets the needs of all learners.

Potential candidates are encouraged to visit the school, and will be warmly welcomed.  Please contact Lauren Teeling, Headteacher's PA on hr@farlingaye.suffolk.sch.uk  or 01394 385720 to make arrangements.

Full information about the job role is detailed in the attached job information book. If you would like to discuss the job role further, please do not hesitate to contact Peter Smith, Headteacher: psmith@farlingaye.suffolk.sch.uk or Nick Webb, Head of Faculty:  nwebb@farlingaye.suffolk.sch.uk

Closing Date: 9.00 am Thursday, 30th April 2026

Interview Date: Thursday, 7th May 2026

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.  DBS checks required for all posts.

We are proud to be part of East Anglian Schools Trust (EAST) alongside Bungay High School, Holbrook Academy, Kesgrave High School, Castle EAST School, EAST SCITT and six primary schools Aldeburgh, Kyson, Wickham Market, Easton, Leiston and Saxmundham with whom we work closely with.
