Maths at Borlase
The Maths Department is a vibrant and
high-achieving environment where maths is both enjoyable to teach and inspiring
to learn. We are a friendly and supportive team who value collaboration while
encouraging teachers to develop their own individual styles, informed by
educational research and adapted to the needs of our pupils. We are united by a
strong belief that every student can succeed in mathematics. By building
positive relationships and fostering a culture of high expectations, we
motivate students to work hard, develop confidence, and fulfil their potential.
The department achieves consistently
excellent outcomes at both GCSE and A Level. In 2025, GCSE results included 23%
Grade 9and 78% Grade 7+, while at A Level, 25% of students achieved A*, 65%
A*/A, and 80% B or above. 50% of our Further Maths Grades were A*. Many of our
students go on to study Mathematics and related disciplines at Oxford,
Cambridge, and other Russell Group universities.
Mathematics is the most popular A
Level subject for both boys and girls, with a significant number of students
choosing to study Further Mathematics and prepare for STEP examinations. Our
Sixth Form provision is particularly strong, and across all key stages, we
offer a rich programme of extension and enrichment opportunities.
