North Durham Academy

New College Durham Academies Trust, (NCDAT) is seeking to appoint an exceptional, highly aspirational, dynamic Student Engagement Manager with a strong, proven track record of positive impact, ideally with those students most in need of additional support.

The post holder will be expected to lead, develop and manage The Self-Regulation Room (SRR) to ensure academic progress and high-quality outcomes are secured for students with behavioural needs and learning difficulties. You will be able to demonstrate positive impact on those students with repeated or serious poor behaviour to enable pupils to access learning in the classroom.
Ideally, you will have experience in leading, offering and developing expert support to pupils with behaviour (including truancy and poor attendance) and learning difficulties in a secondary education setting. You will have experience of working with external agencies to support students and their families.

The successful applicant will liaise with all Heads of Departments to ensure all work delivered in the SRR is fit for purpose, relates to age related expectations and has impact, allowing students to reintegrate back to main stream lessons at the earliest opportunity, when appropriate to do so.

As well as excellent interpersonal skills, you must have resilience and empathy and be able to work effectively under pressure, promoting the culture and vision of the academy by being a positive role model to all students, upholding a vision of inclusion and learning.

Additionally, the post holder will:

· Monitor and sanction as required all behaviour referrals and instigate investigations as required with support from the Head of Inclusion, Head of Student Support and Year Managers as required.

· Analyse behaviour referral data on a weekly and half termly basis to identify students requiring additional support and also to monitor referrals for individual staff and departments.

· Manage links between the pupil and parents/carers to support and encourage achievement and improving behaviour.

· Devise and implement strategies with colleagues as appropriate to involve parents/carers and school staff in the establishment of strong home/school links.

Closing date for application is Thursday 23 January and Interviews will take place at North Durham Academy on Thursday 30 January.
