Ormiston Horizon Academy is a successful and ambitious 11-16 secondary academy at the heart of our community. At OHA, our students, staff, families, and governors work together to ensure we provide a first-class education for all our learners. Our vision is simple, and all of our stakeholders work tirelessly to achieve it: At OHA, we provide an inspirational and ambitious learning journey to enable all our students to achieve beyond their Horizons…
We continually strive to improve and be the best that we can be, and we encourage our staff to do the same, giving them access to frequent and exciting development opportunities. Teachers at OHA will work with the Principal and the Senior Leadership Team to ensure that the aspirations and aims of the Academy are achieved.
All staff, including teachers, will have a responsibility to promote the ethos and culture of the Academy. They will undertake a range of organisational and supervisory duties and discharge routine functions such as taking registers, dealing with routine administrative functions and dealing with student behaviour, in order to ensure the smooth day to day running of the Academy.
All teachers will undertake Personal Tutor responsibilities and will receive training and support to ensure their success in this area. The Personal Tutor has the key role of managing the pastoral and academic welfare of all members of the tutor group. They are the first and most regular contact for students, parents/carers and subject staff.
Work life balance and staff wellbeing is a priority at OHA. Wellbeing Wednesdays allow team members to finish early on the last Wednesday of term. Leadership is supportive, understanding, and places a high value on communication and staff and student voice. Time off for training and personal events is granted at every possible opportunity. CPD and career development is at the heart of everything that we do.
