About this Role

Cover Supervisor

Fixed Term

28.35 hours per week, term time only (38 weeks), 8.30am to 3.10pm Monday to Friday.  Grade D – Step 1 Actual Annual Salary £17,846.04 (which is equivalent to a full-time salary of £27,779).

As part of our commitment to staff wellbeing RAISE Education Trust is trialling a two week half term break 19th to 30th October 2026. Following this trial, should the Trust revert back to a one week October half term break from 2027 the contractual working weeks would increase to 39 weeks and the salary would increase accordingly.

Wildern School are looking for a Fixed Term Cover Supervisor for the period of September 2026 to August 2027 while the current post holder is acting up for a different role.  This position could become permanent if the current post holder is appointed to the new role permanently.

The Cover Supervisor role offers the successful candidates the perfect opportunity to become involved in the learning of young people. This can be a career in itself, or serve as a springboard to a teaching career or other work with young people in the future. We support our cover supervisors’ specialisms about which they are passionate, whilst also providing breadth of experience. The ability to work as a team and learn new skills is more important than previous experience, and full training will be provided.

Duties include supporting a mixture of classes during the absence of the regular class teacher, setting the work provided, monitoring/managing behaviour and keeping students on task as well as supporting teachers in the classroom. You will have high standards of expectation, deliver lively and engaging lessons from existing plans and support students by responding to questions. Effective classroom management is essential for ensuring students stay engaged.

Benefits of working for our trust include:

  • Friendly and sociable colleagues.
  • RAISE a Hand day: One day per academic year — a fully paid day off to support personal events.
  • Two-week October half term: Providing staff and students with an extended break during the autumn term.
  • Free on-site car park.
  • Staff membership rates to our modern on-site Leisure Centre.
  • Enrolment in one of the UK’s Largest public sector pension schemes.
  • A tax efficient Cycle-to-Work scheme through salary sacrifice.
  • Good transport links.

We are part of RAISE Education Trust which comprises of Wildern School, Deer Park Secondary School and Boorley Park School. Our staff form a collective team that make a difference to the lives of our students. This is an exciting time for the trust and all colleagues present and future.  If you would like to discuss you application further please contact C.Poynter@Wildern.org and we can arrange an informal visit.

If you currently work in a school, please ensure one of your references is from your current Headteacher.

Please submit your application as soon as possible as we may invite candidates to interview before the closing date.  Closing Date: Midday, Tuesday 25th August 2026.
