An Exciting Opportunity to Lead a New Curriculum as Head of Computer Science
At Uppingham Community College, we are always looking to innovate and provide our students with outstanding learning experiences. We are now seeking a visionary and dynamic educator to pioneer a brand-new subject, initially at Key Stage 3, with a view to launching Computer Science GCSE in 2027.
This is a rare opportunity to design a curriculum from the ground up, shaping the way students engage with Computer Science across all key stages. You will develop schemes of work, teaching resources, and assessment strategies that are engaging, challenging, and relevant to the world our students live in.

You will work closely with colleagues and senior leaders to ensure the successful integration of the subject into our wider curriculum. You will have the ambition to lead a team within Computer Science as the department develops.

Computer Science at Uppingham Community College
At UCC Computer Science is taught from two large, modern air-conditioned classrooms. Each computer suite houses 32 high spec’d desktops running Windows 11, and a printer shared between both classrooms. Impero software allows for remote access onto students’ individual computers and also allows teaching to be broadcast to all computers for demonstration purposes etc. Both rooms are also fitted with large fully Interactive BenQ Boards.
Start date: 27.08.2026
Salary: Main pay scale/ Upper pay scale (depending on experience), plus TLR2a for additional responsibility as Head of Department.
