About this Role

Role: Music Teacher (MPS / UPS 0.5-0.6 FTE)

We are looking for a part-time enthusiastic and dedicated Music Teacher to join our vibrant and dynamic Music department. The successful candidate will hold QTS and a good honours degree in a related subject (ECTs welcome), with basic piano/keyboard skills to Grade 5 minimum.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach Music across Years 7, 8, 9, and GCSE
  • A level teaching experience is an advantage but not essential
  • Deliver the Pearson Edexcel Music course at GCSE and A Level
  • Inspire students to achieve their musical potential through engaging lessons and performance opportunities

Department Overview: Our Music department is an exciting and active environment for students, where they are encouraged to explore their musical abilities both in the classroom and beyond. The department offers a variety of extra-curricular ensembles including:

  • String Ensemble, 'Strum' Guitar Group, Choir, Jazz Band, Concert Band, and Rock Band
  • Solo performance opportunities and encouragement for students to form their own ensembles

Students also have the option to undertake individual instrumental tuition with our team of peripatetic music teachers. Many students take advantage of this to further their studies in voice or instrument.

Curriculum & Facilities:

  • Music lessons in Years 7, 8, and 9 follow a well-rounded curriculum, which includes solo and ensemble performance, composition, music theory, and the study of socio-cultural aspects and music history.
  • Bespoke music classrooms equipped with keyboards, percussion, guitars, and ukuleles for hands-on learning.
  • Performance opportunities are frequent, including 3 large end-of-term concerts, Tea-time concerts, Recital evenings, House Music competitions, and a Carol Service.

Personal Attributes:

  • A genuine passion for music and teaching
  • Ability to create an inclusive and stimulating learning environment
  • A willingness to contribute to the department's extracurricular activities
  • Commitment to supporting students of all abilities, including those with Special Educational Needs
  • Strong partnership with parents and a collaborative approach to working with colleagues

If you are excited about inspiring our students to explore and develop their musical potential then we would love to hear from you.

Please take a look at the attached information pack for more detailed information and, if you are interested in this role, how you can arrange a visit as we'd love to show you around our school.
