Start Date: Easter 2026

Rickmansworth School is seeking a passionate and dedicated English Teacher to join our vibrant and supportive team. This is an exciting opportunity to inspire and engage students in their literary journey, helping them to develop a profound understanding of the subject and reach their full potential. As an English Teacher at our school, you will be instrumental in delivering high-quality lessons across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4 and a potential to teach at Key Stage 5, contributing to the overall success of the department and the School. If you are committed to fostering a love for English and creating an inspiring learning environment, we would be delighted to hear from you.

About the English Department

Our English Department is committed to delivering innovative, inspiring, and academically rigorous lessons, with a strong focus on outstanding teaching and learning. We centre our approach around the needs of the students, ensuring lessons are fast-paced, challenging, and memorable.

We continually review and adapt our curriculum, from KS3 to KS5, ensuring it aligns with the latest GCSE and A Level reforms and equips students with valuable, transferable skills. At KS3, we offer a diverse range of texts from different eras and cultures, fostering independent, curious learners who are prepared for future academic success.

Our GCSE and A Level results are consistently excellent. In 2025, 84% of students achieved grades 9-5 in English Literature and 78% in English Language, with 37% securing grades 7 and above.  At A Level, 72% of Literature students achieved A*-B and 100% of Language and Literature students reached A*-B.

In addition to English, Film Studies has flourished in recent years. Success at A Level led to the introduction of a highly successful GCSE, blending analytical skills with creative expression, showcased at our annual awards evening. Together with English Literature and Language, these subjects provide a rich and varied academic experience for students.

Applications from ECT’s are welcome.

In return, we will offer you

  • Outstanding CPD opportunities to support your professional growth

  • A school with exemplary student behaviour, where learning is valued

  • A collaborative working environment where teamwork is at the heart of everything we do

  • Highly skilled and supportive staff, working together to make a difference

Rickmansworth School is an outstanding, heavily over-subscribed 11-18 co-educational academy, consistently achieving excellent academic results.
