About this Role

Teacher of Science with Key Stage Coordinator

Rickmansworth School

About the role

Location: Croxley Green, Rickmansworth

Contract type: Full-Time, Permanent

Salary: MPS/UPS incl. Fringe + TLR2b £6,066

Start Date: Easter 2026

Rickmansworth School is seeking a passionate and committed Teacher of Science with Key Stage Coordinator responsibility to join our high-performing and forward-thinking Science Department. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced practitioner to combine high-quality classroom teaching with a clearly defined middle leadership role, supporting pupils to develop a secure and ambitious understanding of science and to achieve their full potential.

The successful candidate will deliver consistently strong teaching across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5, while leading and coordinating provision within a designated Key Stage. The role makes a significant contribution to curriculum development, the monitoring of standards and the continued improvement of teaching and learning within the Science Department and across the school.

If you are committed to fostering a culture of curiosity, aspiration and high achievement in science, and are keen to develop your leadership practice within a supportive and aspirational environment, we would welcome your application. The School’s admissions criteria gives preference to staff members’ children (as there is a demonstrable skill shortage for this post, the successful candidate could apply for a priority admission place for their own child).

About the Science Department:

The department consists of twelve experienced members, fostering a strong and collaborative team atmosphere. We work closely together to support and enhance each other's practice while sharing expertise. The department is supported by three technicians who work alongside teaching staff to ensure a stimulating practical curriculum which inspires our students. We offer a variety of extracurricular opportunities, including a Key Stage 3 Science Club, STEM initiatives, and subject-specific Key Stage 4  and Key Stage 5 study clubs.

Separate Science is a particularly popular option at GCSE, with seven Key Stage 4 classes. Within the Sixth Form approximately 150 students study science subjects at A-Level. The ability to teach up to and including Key Stage 5 is highly desirable.

Applications from ECT’s are welcome.

In return, we will offer you:

  • Outstanding CPD opportunities to support your professional growth

  • A school with exemplary student behaviour, where learning is valued

  • A collaborative working environment where teamwork is at the heart of everything we do

  • Highly skilled and supportive staff, working together to make a difference

  • A comprehensive wellbeing programme to ensure you feel valued and supported

Rickmansworth School is an outstanding, heavily over-subscribed 11-18 co-educational academy, consistently achieving excellent academic results. We provide a nurturing and dynamic environment for our 1575 ambitious young people. Our strong academic track record at both GCSE and A-Level ensures that the vast majority of our students go on to their first-choice universities.
