Rickmansworth School is seeking a passionate and dedicated Drama Teacher to join our enthusiastic Performing Arts team. This is an exciting opportunity to inspire and support students in their creative journey, helping them develop confidence, performance skills and a deep appreciation for drama and the performing arts.
As a Drama Teacher at our school, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality lessons across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5, contributing to the overall success of the department and the wider school community. The School’s admissions criteria gives preference to staff members’ children (as there is a demonstrable skill shortage for this post, the successful candidate could apply for a priority admission place for their own child).
About the Drama Department:
The drama department consists of 2 dedicated teaching staff, supported by a Performing Arts Technician and visiting specialist practitioners where appropriate. The department is based within the purpose-built Drama block, which is well resourced and benefits from recently renovated facilities.
Facilities include:
Dedicated drama teaching and rehearsal spaces equipped with interactive whiteboards
A fully equipped performance space with lighting and sound facilities
Access to costume, props and staging resources to support practical learning and productions
Flexible rehearsal and studio spaces to support curriculum delivery, performances and enrichment activities
A wide range of resources to support performance, devising and technical theatre opportunities across all key stages
Must have or be working towards Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), applications from ECT’s are welcome.

Selection Process:
We are required for only shortlisted candidates to conduct online searches about an applicant as part of our shortlisting process in accordance with Keeping Children Safe in Education guidance 2025 in order to identify any incidents or concerns which are publicly available online. On signing the declaration on application you will be agreeing to the acknowledgement that such searches will be conducted as part of the shortlisting process.
Shortlisted candidates will be invited to the school where there will be a number of related tasks, details of which will be discussed on the day. Interviews will be held with the Headteacher and possibly another member of SLT. There will also be a tour of the school estate and this may be conducted by other members of the school community.
