About this Role

  • Development of disciplinary reading within subjects; working with Curriculum Leaders and Subject Leaders to build on current good practice and to improve this further.
  •  Oversight and leadership of the morning reading programme.
  •  Line Management and Leadership of the Library & Reading Coordinator and the Library.
  •  Wider promotion of Literacy through special events (World Book Day) and the extended curriculum (Assembly / PSHE / HPA / REACH / GREACH)
  •  Strategic lead for the GL Assessments, dissemination of outcomes and their use for whole school planning and targeted support.
  •  Strategic Lead for reading intervention; leading calendared meetings (Implementation and Intervention meetings) and taking responsibility for students accessing appropriate intervention programmes.
  •  Inducting new staff on all aspects of our reading development strategy.
  •  Development of a wider literacy strategy, including writing and oracy.
  •  Taking responsibility for the Literacy 100-day plan.
  •  Liaising with the Trust lead for West for English and Literacy with regards to administration of data and implementation and reviewing of Trust wide literacy strategies.
  •  Working alongside the SEND department to develop the Cognition and Learning offer (literacy) both in and outside of the classroom.
  •  Plan and deliver training to ensure staff are equipped to develop literacy in the classroom and through targeted intervention.
