About this Role

We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic part time Teacher of Food Preparation and Nutrition (0.4FTE) to join our team of experienced specialists in our Design Faculty at Cirencester Deer Park School on a permanent basis from 1 September 2025.  The vacancy has arisen following a request from a colleague returning from maternity leave to work part time, so the successful candidate will form part of a job share.  In addition, we have a .2 role of another Design subject for the right candidate.  This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced teacher who is looking to work part time, or for someone who is new to the area and looking to work part time.  The successful candidate will teach Food Preparation and Nutrition across Key Stage 3 and 4, working as a part of the Design Team to support learning and teaching, raise achievement and enhance our extra-curricular provision. The ability to teach another Design subject (.2) would be desirable, but not essential.

The school's values of Trust, Kindness and Determination underpin all we do. Our pupils enjoy their learning in a disruption free environment, and staff are proud to work here. Following our Ofsted inspection in January 2023, Cirencester Deer Park School continues to be a good school. Inspectors noted that:

  • “Pupils welcome leaders’ high expectations of their behaviour and conduct… Pupils enjoy their learning and feel well prepared for the future.”
  • “Pupils behave well in lessons and benefit from learning without low-level disruption from others.”
  • “Staff are proud to work at the school. They feel well supported by leaders in respect of workload, well-being and managing pupils’ behaviour.”

As a high performing comprehensive school in the South Cotswolds, Cirencester Deer Park School is committed to providing outstanding education and developing our staff. A full induction programme is in place to support all new staff at Deer Park and across The Corinium Education Trust. Having initially converted to an Academy in April 2011, we are now a leading member of The Corinium Education Trust, the first 'mixed' Multi-Academy Trust in Gloucestershire which brings together a large secondary, community primary and church schools, the leaders of which are ambitious for their pupils' learning and life chances and are committed to continuous school improvement.

Further general information about our school can be found on our school website as well as a letter to applicants, Design faculty information, Teacher job description and an application form. Interested applicants would be welcome to contact Allison Boucher, Co-Heads' PA by email with any specific questions or to arrange a visit to the school. Completed application forms should be accompanied by a letter of not more than 2 sides of A4 covering the specific points detailed in the letter to applicants, and should reach the school no later than 9am on Thursday 1 May 2025. Interviews are provisionally scheduled to take place on Wednesday 7 May 2025.

We are committed to the safeguarding of our pupils and employment is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service and the receipt of satisfactory references.

Cirencester Deer Park School would like all candidates to answer specific questions for the personal statement section. For reference, here is a preview of the questions/headings:
