A unique opportunity has arisen to join our school as Deputy Headteacher. This position includes being Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) for the school, and leadership of another whole school area of responsibility which will be agreed with the successful candidate.
We are looking for an inspirational, experienced leader who will play a key role in shaping the direction and vision of the school. This position is ideally suited to an experienced Assistant Headteacher ready to step into Deputy Headship, or an established Deputy Headteacher seeking to further develop their leadership skills.
As DSL, the successful candidate will lead on safeguarding and child protection across the school, working closely with the safeguarding and pastoral team, to ensure that the welfare of our students is prioritised.
At Torquay Girls' Grammar School, we believe that strong teaching and learning is at the heart of our mission to inspire and empower our students to reach their full potential. Our dedicated team of staff are passionate professionals who are committed to creating engaging and inclusive learning environments to ensure that our students achieve the very best academic outcomes to support their future pathways. Academic success is at the core of what we do as a school, however, we are also committed to having a curriculum, alongside our pastoral system and extra-curriculum opportunities, which enables students to develop their confidence, resilience and self esteem. We truly believe that students being happy and relaxed within school is crucial to their success.
When Ofsted visited in November 2023, our hard work was recognised by achieving ‘Outstanding’ in every category of the Ofsted Framework, including leadership and management. This is no mean feat, and we are incredibly proud of this achievement.
The successful candidate will be joining a dynamic Senior Leadership Team, who work closely together to further shape our strategic direction and drive the continued success of our school. As a team, we are committed to playing to each individuals' strengths, as well as supporting each other to develop as versatile and experienced leaders. You will be joining a school which values every individual within our school community, evident from almost 100% of staff saying that they enjoy and are proud to work at our school (July 2025).
