We are looking for an inspiring Teacher of English to join our forward‑thinking and dynamic school. Our English curriculum fosters a life‑long love of the subject enabling students to communicate with conviction, read widely and think critically. Students explore a rich range of texts developing strong vocabulary, confident oracy and independent writing skills.

At Harrogate Grammar School, English exceeds the National Curriculum through dedicated reading lessons, ‘Big Write’ sessions and explicit oracy and debate teaching. Our curriculum builds knowledge and challenge across KS3 preparing students for success at KS4 while golden threads such as social justice, morality, love and diversity deepen students’ cultural understanding.

You will join a passionate department with exceptional subject knowledge a strong focus on literacy and vocabulary and a commitment to high‑quality modelling, questioning and feedback. The team is proud of its national achievements including success in the Bar Mock Trials and award‑winning creative writing opportunities.
