About this Role

We are a thriving, inclusive, and forward thinking state boarding school that places physical education, sport, and wellbeing at the heart of school life. We are committed to developing confident, resilient, and motivated young people, fostering a lifelong passion for physical activity, teamwork, and healthy competition through a broad and engaging sporting curriculum.
We are seeking an enthusiastic and inspiring Teacher of Physical Education (Maternity Cover) to teach Hockey, Athletics, and Netball across the school. This is a full-time position, suitable for an experienced teacher or an Early Career Teacher with a strong commitment to extracurricular sport.
Our Physical Education department plays a central role in the wider life of the school. We offer a dynamic and well-resourced sporting environment, with strong participation in team sports and fixtures, and an emphasis on developing both performance and enjoyment. As a state boarding school, sport is integral to our boarding ethos, providing opportunities for leadership, community building, and personal growth beyond the classroom.
The successful candidate will be passionate about inspiring students of all abilities, committed to high standards of teaching and coaching, and keen to contribute to a vibrant co-curricular programme.
We are committed to providing students with a rich variety of opportunities beyond the classroom, and the successful candidate will be expected to contribute to this by supporting our existing extra-curricular programme or by introducing new activities that further enhance its breadth and impact.
We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff to share this commitment. All post-holders are subject to a satisfactory enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) including barred list check.
We strive to be an inclusive and diverse workplace representative of our student population. Applications from Black, Asian, and minority ethnic candidates are especially welcome.
