We are seeking an enthusiastic and inspiring Teacher of History to join our Humanities department. Our History department plays a central role in the academic and cultural life of the school. We offer a broad and ambitious curriculum that encourages students to think critically, evaluate evidence, and explore diverse perspectives. The successful candidate will teach History up to Key Stage 5. We are committed to developing confident, reflective, and articulate young people, fostering a lifelong interest in the past and its relevance to the present through a rich and engaging History curriculum.
Hockerill Anglo-European College is a thriving, diverse and internationally minded IB World School. We are proud of our reputation for academic excellence and our commitment to developing students who are inquisitive, analytical and globally aware. Our curriculum combines the IB Diploma and Middle Years Programmes with GCSEs, offering a broad and rigorous education. From September 2027, the College will broaden its post-16 provision to offer A Levels alongside the IB Diploma, ensuring that all students can access the pathway best suited to their strengths, aspirations and future plans.
This is a full or part time position and is open to both experienced teachers and Early Career Teachers who hold a UK-recognised teaching qualification for ages 11–18. Full induction, training and support are provided, and previous experience of the IB is not required. What matters most is your enthusiasm for History and your ability to inspire students of all abilities to achieve their best. The College reserves the right to interview and appoint to this post before the given deadline. The ability to teach an additional subject would be advantageous but is not essential. Please indicate within your personal statement if there are other subjects that you are able to offer alongside History.
We are committed to providing students with a rich variety of opportunities beyond the classroom, and the successful candidate will be expected to contribute to this by supporting our existing enrichment programme or by introducing new activities that further extend its breadth and impact.
We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff to share this commitment. All post-holders are subject to a satisfactory enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, including a barred list check.
We strive to be an inclusive and diverse workplace representative of our student population. Applications from Black, Asian, and minority ethnic candidates are especially welcome.
