You will be joining a busy and vibrant Music Department working within a successful and supportive faculty. Music plays a central role in the wider life of Southend High School for Girls, and we are looking for a fun, enthusiastic team player who can inspire students and engage them in creative, rigorous and imaginative musical experiences.

We offer Music at both GCSE and A Level, following the Eduqas examination board, the department is actively shaping and enhancing its curriculum across all key stages to ensure a high-quality and coherent musical education.

The Music Department offers a wide range of extra-curricular opportunities, with a variety of clubs and ensembles running regularly at lunchtime leading to a full programme of concerts throughout the academic calendar. These events are a highlight of school life and provide students with extensive opportunities to perform, collaborate and develop confidence as musicians.

Within the department, there is scope for the successful candidate to contribute towards the continued development of Music at Southend High School for Girls, particularly through performance, enrichment and their own musical interests and areas of expertise.

 

The ability to teach Music at KS3 and KS4 is essential

The successful candidate should:

  • Be an inspirational classroom practitioner with an irresistible enthusiasm for their subject. As a reflective practitioner you will be constantly looking to develop your practice through collaboration, experimentation, and hard work.
  • Be a team player working closely with the Head of Department to develop the learning experiences for all our students.
  • Be creative and innovative constantly looking for new ways to challenge our high ability students.
  • Contribute to secure the highest standards of pupil achievement, monitoring, tracking, supporting, and evaluating pupil achievement. Set targets for improvement and implement effective strategies for underperforming students.
