About this Role

Fixed Term - Ending 17th July 2026

35 hours per week - Monday to Friday

We are looking for adults with excellent communication and interpersonal skills to inspire and motivate young people. Candidates must have the enthusiasm and flexibility to work with students aged 11-16 years with a range of individual needs including those with challenging behaviour. An excellent standard of English (both written and oral) is essential as well as the ability to work as part of a team.

We would welcome applications from graduates, particularly those with a sport’s degree, taking a ’gap’ year or those considering teaching as a career.

  • To lead and supervise playground activities with young people during breaks and lunchtimes
  • To work under the guidance of teachers and pastoral staff in helping students to overcome barriers to learning; supporting students both in class and one to one

This post would suit those who have an interest or experience in supporting and guiding young people in their learning and behaviour as well as enthusiasm for sports and recreational activities

Why work at The Compton School?

  • You will be joining a highly successful school with a national profile of excellence in teaching and learning, teacher training and student outcomes
  • We will provide you with exceptional training through our induction programme
  • All staff can access professional development opportunities tailored for their level of career development
  • A commitment to staff wellbeing, including a staff-run Wellbeing Team, staff socials, a staff choir, cakes in the staffroom every Friday, a cycle-to-work scheme, wellbeing afternoons and free access to an employee assistance package.

 Who are we?

We are a massively oversubscribed mixed multi-ethnic school that has had four outstanding OFSTED inspections in succession, most recently in January 2018. Students at the Compton make exceptional progress - our results routinely put the school within the top 2% of schools nationally for progress.

At The Compton we understand that our brilliant teachers make a difference to the life chances of our students every day by helping them to secure outstanding outcomes. We always strive to appoint the very best teachers and once in post, we provide a work place environment that ensures their needs are fully met now and in the future.

The Compton School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment
