About this Role

At The Greetland Academy, we have high expectations and a relentless focus on improving the quality of teaching and learning, to ensure each child can maximise their potential and have their life chances significantly enhanced. We believe in the importance and value of education and that every child has the right to access an education of excellence.

We are looking for a caring and dedicated individual to provide support for a child with type 1 diabetes. This role involves assisting with blood glucose monitoring, insulin administration, and ensuring the child’s overall well-being throughout the school day. Full training will be provided; previous experience in diabetes care is desirable but not essential.

In addition to medical support, you will work under the guidance of teaching and senior staff, usually within the classroom, to help the child access learning and thrive in a stimulating environment.

Key Responsibilities:

·        Support the child’s learning needs within the classroom.

·        Deliver targeted 1:1 and small group interventions as required.

·        Adapt support to meet individual needs with patience, understanding, and effective communication.

·        Create an engaging environment that encourages learning and development.

·        Monitor and record progress, sharing relevant information with teaching staff.

·        Provide medical support in line with training and school policy.

You will:

·        Understand how children learn and apply effective strategies to meet individual needs.

·        Be confident, proactive, and able to work with initiative.

·        Collaborate effectively within a team, sharing ideas and taking guidance from colleagues and specialists.

·        Be committed to ongoing professional development and training.

·        Demonstrate positivity, high expectations, and a caring, adaptable approach.

·        Be determined to make a meaningful difference to the pupils at The Greetland Academy.

In return you will work with a warm and welcoming school community, with dedicated staff and enthusiastic children. Great Heights Academy Trust is a progressive and forward thinking Multi Academy Trust where there are opportunities for development and career progression. As a Trust we offer many benefits including a generous holiday entitlement. We are a growing multi-academy trust with nine schools in the West Yorkshire area with plans to further expand. In addition, we are home to a SCITT, Research School and an English Hub.

If you are passionate and enthusiastic about helping children and can work with us to nurture their aspirations and dreams; enabling them to be the best they can be, then we would love to hear from you.

The Greetland Academy is committed to safeguarding personal data. Any information provided during the recruitment process will be processed in accordance with UK GDPR and our privacy policy. No personal details about the child will be shared during recruitment.

Great Heights Academy Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful applicant will be required to undergo an enhanced DBS check and provide satisfactory references prior to appointment.

We are an equal opportunities employer and welcome applications from all sections of the community regardless of age, disability, gender, race, religion or belief, sexual orientation, or any other protected characteristic.
