If you are the kind of person who strives for excellence, and likes to do things well, who wants lots of opportunities to develop your role as a teacher – then this is the place for you.
The Geography Department is a highly successful and well‑respected department within the College. It comprises four specialist teachers who bring a wealth of experience, subject expertise and enthusiasm to their teaching. We strive to deliver lessons that are engaging, interactive and relevant, helping students to understand and respond to the challenges of today’s world. The department enjoys excellent outcomes at Key Stages 3, 4 and 5, and uptake at both GCSE and A level is consistently strong. Geography is the most popular option subject, with over 80 students opting to study Geography at AS level this year. Students are entered for the AQA A GCSE and Edexcel A level courses. The successful applicant will be required to teach up to A level.
Clear and well‑established
schemes of work are in place for Key Stages 3, 4 and 5, and the department
works collaboratively to plan lessons and standardise assessment, demonstrating
a strong commitment to excellence. A wide range of extra‑curricular activities
is offered, making full use of the excellent local fieldwork opportunities
available.
