We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, dynamic and inspirational Cover Supervisor to join our team. The primary purpose of the role is to supervise whole classes during the short-term absence of teaching staff, ensuring that students remain on task and continue their learning in a calm, purposeful environment. In addition, you may be required to provide cover for other staff where needed, contributing to the smooth day-to-day running of the college.
The successful candidate will be a reliable, flexible and adaptable individual, able to respond confidently to the varying demands of a busy college environment. You will work closely with a dedicated and supportive team of teaching and support staff, playing a key role in maintaining high expectations of behaviour and engagement across the college. A genuine passion for supporting young people is essential. We are looking for someone who is committed to helping all students achieve their full potential, both academically and personally. You will demonstrate strong communication skills, a positive and proactive approach, and the ability to build effective relationships with students.
A good standard of education is required, alongside the confidence to deliver pre-prepared work and manage classroom behaviour effectively. Whilst experience in a school setting is desirable, we are particularly interested in individuals who bring enthusiasm, commitment and a clear desire to make a meaningful difference in students’ lives.
In addition to classroom responsibilities, the successful applicant will also support the college during other times, including supervising students at lunchtime to ensure their safety, wellbeing and positive conduct.
We would particularly welcome applications from candidates with a background or experience in Physical Education.
Education South West is committed to safeguarding and protecting the welfare of children. Applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post. This includes checks with past employers, an online check of publicly available information, including social media, and an enhanced disclosure via the Disclosure and Barring Service
