About this Role

Success and Happiness for All

At Harbour Learning Trust, we passionately believe that every child should receive the very best education that prepares them fully for the future. We are proud to have the highest performing primary and secondary schools  and we are honored to have been shortlisted for the TES Inclusive School of the Year Award. Our mission is to create an environment where both students and staff can thrive.

We are seeking two visionary and dynamic Assistant Principals to join our SLT team at Healing Academy. This is more than just a school-based role; it is an invitation to join a collaborative Trust where your strengths are recognised and your professional growth is our priority.

The Opportunity: Why Join the Trust?

  • You will work alongside the Principal and Vice Principal to adopt a proactive role in strategic planning and school policy.

  • We value "Personal Humility" and a "Desire to develop and empower others".

  • You will be fully accountable for the performance and well-being of a  number of staff and pupils, making a tangible difference from day one.

  • We encourage our leaders to take risks to lead, develop, and enhance the teaching practice of others through high-quality monitoring and support.

The work we do is underpinned by our DANCE values and our magnificent seven behaviours;

Our Fantastic Five Values

D - Harbour children deserve joyful (delight)schools that ignite creativity and learning through play. We invest in colleagues to ensure success and promote lifelong well-being for everyone.

A - We recruit the best colleagues and nurture talent in safe environments, inspiring our children to strive for excellence (ambition). By learning from the best, we improve and give back to our communities.

N - Harbour schools are rooted in care, valuing respect and empathy (nurture). We create supportive environments where children and colleagues thrive, preparing them for the future.

C - We promote pride, inclusion, and civic responsibility, celebrating diversity and community. Colleagues will experience belonging through collaboration, well-being, and continuous development.

E - Success comes when colleagues are empowered to innovate, take risks, and learn from failure. At Harbour, we encourage creativity and collaboration, helping both children and colleagues achieve their goals.

In our schools this means;

  • A shared language of excellence and behavior across all sites with our DANCE values.

  • Regular opportunities to lead and share  initiatives that impact children across the entire region, not just your own school though cross-Trust networking via our Personal Learning Communities:

  • A leadership team that prioritises the health and performance of its staff as well as its students.

Our Magnificent Seven Behaviors  are our foundation of how we will interact, grow, and succeed together;

  • We will act with integrity, honesty and transparency in all that we do

  • We will trust our fellow professionals and value their skills and knowledge

  • We will work collaboratively and encourage others to do the same

  • We will work inclusively, building and celebrating inclusive and diverse communities

  • We will be kind to ourselves and in all our dealings with others, acting with

  • compassion and empathy

  • We will communicate regularly and with clarity with our stakeholders and with each other, welcoming and reflecting on constructive feedback from others

  • We will be aspirational for all, wanting the best for ourselves and for everyone

The Role

As an Assistant Principal, your duties will be around quality assurance and education equity and you will be;

  • Acting as a Performance Management team leader and ensuring professional learning meets the highest standards.

  • Supporting the achievement of pupil progress targets and implementing inclusive behaviour policies.

  • Modelling our "DANCE" values and maintaining excellent standards of professional behaviour.

About You

We are looking for  exemplary classroom practitioners who are ready for the next step in their leadership journey. You will have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status and a relevant first degree.

  • Experience as a successful middle or senior leader with evidence of impact.

  • A strong understanding of quality assurance and education equity.

  • Relentless positivity and a passion for school improvement.

  • An NPQML/NPQSL (or the drive to complete one while in the role).

Harbour Learning Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. All successful candidates will be expected to share this commitment.
