We are seeking an exceptional, highly motivated, and student-centred Senior Head of Year to play a pivotal role in leading behaviour systems, strengthening pastoral support, and fostering a positive culture across the Academy.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced pastoral leader who is passionate about ensuring every student can thrive within a safe, respectful, and ambitious learning environment. Working closely with the Assistant Principal for Behaviour & Attitudes, you will provide leadership across the behaviour team, support Heads of Year, and contribute to the continued development of a culture built on high expectations, consistency, and strong relationships.
The successful candidate will be a visible and influential presence throughout the Academy, championing excellent behaviour, supporting students and families, and ensuring that Academy systems are implemented with clarity and consistency.
About the Role
As Senior Head of Year, you will:
- Lead and support the effective implementation of behaviour systems across the Academy.
- Ensure behaviour records, sanctions, communications, and interventions are maintained accurately and consistently.
- Provide leadership and guidance to Heads of Year and other members of the behaviour team.
- Maintain a strong presence around the school during social times, lesson transitions, and throughout the school day.
- Support the operation and high standards of conduct within the Reflection to Learn (RTL) Room.
- Counsel, support, and sanction students where appropriate, promoting a safe and respectful environment.
- Deputise for the Assistant Principal for Behaviour & Attitudes when required.
- Act as an escalation point for behaviour incidents and parental concerns.
- Build positive and productive relationships with parents and carers to improve engagement and strengthen partnerships between home and school.
- Coordinate communication and reintegration processes following suspensions and internal exclusions.
- Support tutor teams, monitor Tutor Time provision, and oversee attendance accuracy.
- Assist with student admissions, managed moves, and induction programmes for students joining the Academy during the academic year.
- Work alongside senior leaders to develop and deliver high-quality training for the behaviour team.
