You will work alongside a hardworking team of colleagues who are incredibly welcoming, supportive and committed to delivering a curriculum which will improve the lives of the community we serve.

The Academy offers a bespoke CPD and coaching programme, which is evidence informed and grounded in the latest research.

 The successful candidate will:

  • Accept their professional obligation to continually improve their practice.
  • Be hard-working, will welcome feedback and have a positive mind-set.
  • A team player who recognises the importance of collaboration.
  • Work tirelessly to instil the highest standards of behaviour and virtues in our students.

The Business, Computer Science and Digital Literacy Faculty at Sutton Academy is a dynamic team of knowledgeable, passionate and dedicated teachers, committed to delivering engaging, thought-provoking lessons that inspire every student. As a new member of our faculty, you will be welcomed into a supportive and experienced team united by a shared vision of outstanding teaching and learning, underpinned by collaborative planning and robust assessment procedures. We work closely together to ensure consistency across the faculty, continually refining our practice to secure the very best outcomes for our students.

Our faculty currently comprises seven teachers, including both a Faculty Leader and Curriculum Leader for Business. Staff enjoy a positive, collaborative working environment and benefit from excellent classroom/IT facilities. We are seeking an enthusiastic and innovative teacher who will contribute fully to faculty life, inspiring and engaging students through our forward-thinking curriculum. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a thriving and rapidly developing faculty, with access to high-quality CPD and clear opportunities for professional growth within the Academy.

Business and IT are among the most popular subjects at the Academy, with over 100 Year 11 students and several Sixth Form classes. At Key Stage 3, our Digital Literacy curriculum is carefully mapped to the National Curriculum for Computing, offering a broad and balanced programme that blends technical computing units with creative IT topics.

At Key Stage 4, students study:

  • OCR J277 GCSE Computer Science
  • OCR Creative iMedia (IT)
  • BTEC Tech Award in Enterprise (Business)

At Key Stage 5, students study:

  • Level 3 OCR Cambridge Technicals in Business and IT
  • Cambridge Advanced National in Computing

This is an exciting time for the faculty as we continue to enhance and broaden our curriculum, including the development of a wider range of enriching extra-curricular opportunities. We are proud to work in partnership with organisations such as The King’s Trust to provide additional experiences that further support and inspire our students.

The successful candidate will be a hardworking teacher who is fully committed to being the best practitioner they can be so they can make a difference to the students at The Sutton Academy.
