We can offer you the opportunity to work in a collaborative environment where we share ideas and support each other to succeed. We expect exceptional outcomes from our year groups through the fair implementation of our values and expectations, and we work together to achieve this.

We would be delighted to take you on a tour of the school and give you the opportunity to view our facilities and answer any questions you may have.

As Head of Year you will:

  • Be able to inspire, influence, challenge and motivate others, leading by example.
  • Be able to motivate and inspire students to achieve their full potential.
  • Have the belief that all children can make outstanding progress.
  • Be able to confidently meet with parents to resolve issues both successfully and in line with academy policies.

The Bishop of Winchester Academy is a thriving Church of England school, recently recognised by Ofsted as prioritising ‘wider opportunities alongside achievement so that pupils “live life to the full.”’ (Ofsted 2023). Operating from recently refurbished facilities, our shared mission to improve the life chances of all of our students is at the very centre of our work.

We put the welfare of our staff at the heart of everything we do and can offer you:

  • Generous employer pension contribution at 28.6% basic salary
  • Early Friday finish at 1:00pm
  • A bespoke CPD programme including training and in department development time with a generous allowance of inset days
  • Excellent newly refurbished teaching facilities with free onsite parking and good local public transport links
  • A robust behaviour system allowing teaching staff to deliver high quality learning opportunities to students

The successful candidate will have to meet the person specification and the post is subject to safeguarding checks, including an enhanced DBS check and Children’s Barred List check. The post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the amendments to the Exceptions Order 1975,2013 and 2020.
