About this Role

Required for an Easter 2026 start (or earlier), we are seeking to appoint a well-qualified, highly motivated & enthusiastic Head of Art and Photography to cover a period of maternity leave. 

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced teacher or aspiring leader to manage a small team and ensure high-quality teaching and learning across the Art and Photography department.  

The successful candidate will be an outstanding classroom practitioner who delivers engaging and innovative lessons that foster creativity and a love of Art. They will be passionate about their subject with a personal interest in contemporary art, art history and photography. The successful candidate will have experience of the marking and moderation process for GCSE/A-Level Art.

The Academy

Ormiston Bushfield Academy is a good school, conveniently located close to the Cambridgeshire, Northamptonshire & Lincolnshire borders, and benefits from excellent road and rail links.

The Academy is continuing to expand and due to its popularity and increasing student numbers, a new £6 million wing was opened in September 2018.  This extension is an addition to the £20.6 million state-of-the-art building that was completed September 2012, giving every student the opportunity to learn in an exciting and inspiring environment at an Academy that has been recognised for its high standards of inclusion. The Academy has continued to build on the successes of the last few years and achieved strong results at GCSE & A-Level in the summer.

  • Is an outstanding classroom teacher who can inspire and excite students about their learning in all aspects of Art and Photography
  • Has excellent organisational and leadership skills
  • Has strong interpersonal skills and the ability to foster a lively and enthusiastic atmosphere within the department for both students and staff
  • Has experience and a good understanding of the use of systems and data tracking
  • Is able to drive continuous improvement in teaching and learning within the subject area, raising standards and ensuring that student achievement is maximised
