About this Role

Required for a September 2025 start, we are looking for a dedicated, well-qualified and highly motivated Teacher of English to join our English department. The successful candidate must be able to deliver high quality teaching across Key Stages 3 and 4 and the ability to offer A-level teaching is advantageous but not essential. The successful candidate should have a passion for English and be innovative in the classroom.

Applications are welcomed from both experienced & early career teachers (a full induction will be provided to ECTs based on the Early Career Framework).

The Academy

Ormiston Bushfield Academy is a good school (OFSTED – December 2019), conveniently located close to the Cambridgeshire, Northamptonshire & Lincolnshire borders, and benefits from excellent road and rail links.

The Academy is continuing to expand and due to its popularity and increasing student numbers, a new £6 million wing was opened in September 2018.  This extension is an addition to the £20.6 million state-of-the-art building that was completed September 2012, giving every student the opportunity to learn in an exciting and inspiring environment at an Academy that has been recognised for its high standards of inclusion. The Academy has continued to build on the successes of the last few years and achieved strong results at GCSE & A-Level in the summer.

Visits to the Academy are encouraged and if this post has attracted your interest, we welcome enquirers to telephone for an informal discussion in the first instance.

The Trust

Ormiston Bushfield Academy is part of the Ormiston Academies Trust (OAT). OAT is one of the largest and longest standing trusts in the school system and is guided by our founder, Peter Murray’s belief that every child deserves the chance to thrive. With schools located across a diverse range of communities, each with its own unique character, strengths and challenge, joining the OAT family means embracing a community that values collaboration, professional growth, and the pursuit of excellence. OAT strives to provide an exceptional working environment where all our staff can thrive and make a meaningful difference in the lives of pupils.

We are looking for a candidate who:

  • Is an outstanding classroom teacher who can inspire and excite students about their learning in all aspects of English.
  • Is able to drive continuous improvement in teaching and learning within the subject, raising standards and ensuring student achievement is maximised.
  • Is confident in the use of systems and data tracking.
  • Is able to effectively communicate with students, parents and staff.
  • Is keen to make a difference to the education of OBA students.

We offer:

  • An opportunity to join a well-established and supportive department at an Academy with a strong ethos of teamwork and support, where staff are committed to raising attainment.
  • Development for staff through nationally recognised training courses.
  • Access to a range of resources and opportunities through our Academy Trust.
  • Laptops for all staff.
  • Guidance, advice and support from both the department and senior leadership team who all want to make a positive difference to the education of all OBA students.

Closing date for receipt of applications:  Midday,  Wednesday 15th January 2025

Please note that the Academy withholds the right to withdraw the advert at any time, or interview suitable candidates before the closing date.
