Job Title: Head of English

Are you an inspiring and ambitious English specialist ready to lead a dynamic department? Crest Academy is seeking an outstanding Head of English to drive excellence in teaching and learning, and to raise standards across the subject.

As a key member of the leadership team, you will lead and develop a passionate team of English teachers, ensuring high-quality delivery of an engaging and ambitious curriculum. You will play a pivotal role in improving student outcomes, fostering a love of reading and writing, and promoting literacy across the academy.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the English department, ensuring high-quality teaching, learning, and strong student outcomes.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor an engaging and inclusive English curriculum aligned with academy priorities.
  • Track and evaluate pupil progress, using data to drive improvement and targeted intervention strategies.
  • Support, coach, and develop staff through performance management and continuous professional development.
  • Lead initiatives to raise attainment and promote literacy across the school in line with national and academy strategies

Pay range: M1 - U3 (Inner London) £40,317.00 - £62,496.00

Qualifications and Skills:

    • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a degree in English or a related subject.
    • Strong subject knowledge and understanding of the National Curriculum and effective teaching strategies.
    • Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop a team to achieve high performance.
    • Experience of using assessment data to monitor progress and raise student attainment.
    • Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships.
