We are a highly supportive school, backed by strong subject leadership and senior management, dedicated to fostering your professional development. We seek a highly ambitious, committed, and dynamic professional to join our Science department—an individual who is passionate about the subject, excels in communication with young people, and consistently makes a positive impact on student learning.
The
Science department comprises of 8 full-time Science teachers including a
Curriculum Leader who is also a member of the Senior Leadership Team, an
Assistant Principal and two Science Technicians. The successful applicant will
be able to teach all of the science disciplines (Biology, Chemistry and
Physics) at KS3 and KS4, although staff usually teach within their specialism
at GCSE. A Level teaching may be available to suitably qualified candidates. We
welcome applications from both experienced and Early Career Teachers (ECTs).
The Science department offers a broad and ambitious curriculum that empowers teachers to tailor learning to their students’ academic, social and emotional needs. Planning is centralised as we aim to work collaboratively, but teachers are encouraged to select resources and activities that are suitable to the learners in their classes and have flexibility in how they address learning objectives to ensure the best outcomes for their students. Triple Science is a popular GCSE option with 3 classes in Year 11 and 2 classes in Years 9 and 10. KS4 students study the AQA GCSE for both Triple Science and Combined Science (Trilogy specification). For KS5, we offer A Levels in Biology and Chemistry, as well as a Level 3 AAQ in Applied Science. We are currently looking to expand our provision to include A Level Physics soon.
A TLR for the role
of Second in Department is available for a suitable candidate and further
details can be provided upon request.
The successful applicant will be passionate about teaching and learning, have a desire and an eagerness to contribute to the subject area.
Visiting
the school prior to submission of an application is warmly encouraged.
Our
commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of our children will be
reflected throughout the recruitment process and the successful applicant will
be subject to an enhanced DBS check and an online screening check.
Prospective
candidates are encouraged to submit their applications as soon as possible as
the school reserves the right to close the advert should we feel able to
appoint an appropriate candidate.
